INVESTIGATION

The commencement of the new Aged Care Act has been pushed back to 1 November 2025, but that extra time isn’t a reason to wait. Leading providers in the aged care sector are using this window to build competitive advantage by tightening governance, embedding accountability and building capability before the new rules bite.

Rather than treating this as a compliance deadline, smart organisations are using it as an opportunity to:

  • Strengthen incident investigation and response systems: so issues are found early, addressed quickly and reported transparently.

  • Embed continuous improvement: ensuring lessons from investigations are turned into better processes, safer care and a culture of accountability.

  • Build governance maturity: from boards to front line staff so risk management and oversight meet the standards expected by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner.

Those who invest in these areas now will not only avoid the scramble next year, they’ll also improve the quality and safety of care today. It’s a chance to create lasting systems that deliver confidence to Boards, Executives, regulators and most importantly older Australians and their families.

When November 2025 arrives, these organisations won’t just be “ready” – they’ll be leading.
